Battle Creek Chapter

Well, he did it again. He being Roger Lewis and it being the BBBB. For those of you who missed the BBBB (Barbershop, Brats, Beans and?Beer in the Barn), at the Lewis Ranch, 20125 12 Mile Road, Battle Creek.  Here's an update. Guys from all over arrived at Roger's place around 6:30pm Saturday. There were registered quartets, Moxy and Patch Chords. It was an absolutely beautiful night. Woodshedding abound. Only one person did not sing in a quartet, (his choice) and the contest was a hoot. The judges were the Patch Chords and what fine judges they were. They took judging to a new level. You'll notice, I didn't say up to a new level.  In the Judges A&R, they mentioned important stuff like, the bass was to short, three in one of the quartets had ugly knees and shouldn't have worn shorts, comments on facial hair or no hair and things like that.

Prizes were handed out to the winning quartets of the two categories, Seniors and regular. Quartets were chosen by signing up as to which part you wanted to sing and then just randomly assigning the four parts. Each quartet had 15 minutes to practice and find a name.Obviously, nobody had any fun and there wasn't much singing, except when you got there and in between quartets, after dinner, while the judges were tallying scores???, after the contests and for?some people even before they got there in their cars. So if you get a chance to go next year, I'd think about it long and hard and ask youself, do I want have some good food, sing alot, have fun and be with some great guys who love to sing? Hmmm.
