Come North, fellow Pioneer Barbershop fans! Experience the thrill of
April in Northern Ontario - a time when Old Man Winter mocks those poor
souls who think spring is nigh! However, the snow is almost certain to
have melted down far enough by then so I can find where I parked my car
last November!
The Northland Barbershop Chorus of Sault Ste
Marie, Ontario is presenting our 44th annual show on April 5 entitled:
G.I. Jukebox - Music from the WW II Era - a show in the style of the
USO Camp Shows that were presented at military bases and in combat
areas throughout the war. By 1945, USO curtains were rising 700 times a
day to audiences as large as 15,000 and as small as 25 in outposts all
over the world. More than 7,000 entertainers travelled overseas, but
none was more recognized or more loved than Bob Hope. Through the music
of Vera Lynn, Doris Day, The Andrews Sisters and many more, we salute
Bob and pay tribute to the men and women who served, and who continue
to serve, in the armed forces.
A special feature of this show
will be the anticipated involvement of veteran's groups and active-duty
military service personnel from both the Canadian and American sides.
Tickets will be offered at half price ($10 vs $20) to any service
person attending in uniform, whether veteran or active-duty. They
