Wayne Chapter

This has become a yearly thing for us and we really enjoy singing there because of the outstanding audiences that fill the atrium year after year.

Another of our favorite venues is the Hawthorn Center in Northville. This is a facility that helps abused children. You would think that a bunch of young children wouldn't care for old guys singing ... barbershop music. We are simply amazed at the enthusiasm that these kids have displayed each year we have performed there. This shows how the barbershop style is even appealing to youngsters. All the guys leave there with such joyous, but sad, hearts for these kids. The library and Hawthorn Center have been regular stops for us for at least 8 years.

We were scheduled to start out December by singing the National Anthem at the Plymouth Whaler's hockey game at the Compuware Sports Arena but; unfortunately, the game had to be canceled because of injuries to a few of the opposing team's players in an auto/pedestrian accident. We're hoping to be rescheduled for a later date.

Ending The Year On A High Note

Renaissance Chorus

The months of November & December are always busy months for the Renaissance Chorus of the Wayne Chapter. 2007 was no exception.

We started out on the 10th of November with 2 performances on the same day.  In the morning we welcomed Santa to the Westland Shopping Center Mall. That evening we did 2 songs for the Redford Harmony Society Vaudeville Show. The show had a number of interesting and unusual acts. It was very entertaining and we were glad we could contribute.

On the 15th, we did a noon-time concert at the Livonia Public Library.

The day was saved when we decided to go from there to the Lutheran Home of Livonia. This turned out to be very uplifting. This is a nursing home and we were able to entertain quite a few of the elderly residents. They really enjoyed the singing. One of our chapter's former members, John Lynn (25 years), is a resident there and he actually was able to sing along with us on a few of the songs. It was very heart warming.

Our final destination for 2007 was at St. Mary's Hospital in Livonia on the 23rd. We have been going there about 30 years or more. We spent an hour and a half singing Christmas carols for the nurses and patients at each of the nursing stations. We even sang for the newborns and their mothers.

These performances were a very fitting ending to the year for us. It has been a very successful year for our chapter.
